The Connection

Think about it - how many times has it happened with you that you have read a book, fallen in love with it and a few months later you meet the author -and get praised by her too!

Never happened to me until last week, when i happened to attend a workshop in Dubai conducted by “Food Bloggers Connect”. A platform that gives you the opportunity to meet and mingle with people, mentors, professionals from various cultures and countries yet following one common creed - FOOD!

An opportunity that i stumbled upon whilst sitting with a friend, encouraged by family and backed by none other than Mr. Husband!

It was a warm Friday morning when i walked towards a small cafe called “The Archive”, deftly cocooned amongst tall palm trees in Safa Park, Dubai. Serving a collection of healthy foods, housing a brilliant collection of books on Middle Eastern culture and just the venue to have engaging discussions, positive critique, and  hands-on experience with well-known professionals.

The first day was a mouth-watering session with Dianne Jacob author of “Will Write for Food” (the book that i read and fell in love with) and a seasoned writer and blogger who took an eager audience of over twenty aspiring bloggers to a journey of sensuous and captivating writing skills. Dianne expertly folded in her own experience and skills, garnishing the penmanship of the individuals and their potentials.

The the second day was a detailed and picture perfect discussion on capturing the true essence of food and glamorously dressing it up for your respective needs. Martha Holmberg and Ellen Silverman, widely acclaimed food writer and photographer respectively combined their mastery and shared methods and techniques on how to establish a relationship with your audience. How to adeptly capture light, brand your creativity and finally snap shut a loyal following.

Two full days of invaluable information, mouthfuls of coffee, lightly savoury lunches by Chef Tomas Reger and extravagant dinners at Zaroob and Hakkasan (which i sadly missed) were an irreplaceable delight!

Think about it - how many times has it happened with you that you have read a book, fallen in love with it and a few months later you meet the author -and get praised by her too! - Dont think its happening with me again - but thank you Food Bloggers Connect for “The Connection”
